Content policy
This is a place for people to remember someone they've lost. Everything below exists so it stays that way. It's written in plain language on purpose: if anything here is unclear, reach out before you submit.
How review works
Every memorial is read by a real person before it's visible to anyone else, in the website's gallery or in the VRChat world. Nothing goes live automatically. We aim to review new submissions within a few hours, not days, but a memorial that needs a closer look, or a dispute between family members, may take longer while we sort it out.
If your memorial is rejected, you'll see the status here on the site. You're welcome to resubmit with changes, or to ask why: see Disputes & takedowns.
What's welcome
- A name, dates, and a short tribute message.
- A photo of the person being remembered.
- A longer story about who they were, if you want to share one: a favorite memory, what made them them, an inside joke that still makes you smile.
- Honesty about how someone died, described gently. You don't need to soften it, but please don't include graphic detail (see below).
What's not allowed
- Harassment or hate speech of any kind, aimed at the person being remembered, at another visitor, or at anyone else. This includes disguising harassment as a "tribute."
- Someone else's private information, such as a home address, phone number, workplace, or school, belonging to anyone still living, including family members. Your own contact info on the submission form is fine; it's never shown publicly and is only used to reach you about this specific memorial.
- Fake memorials. This includes memorials for people who are not actually deceased, and memorials created to prank, mock, or target someone.
- Impersonation: pretending to be a family member, a moderator, or anyone you're not.
- Graphic detail about violence or self-harm, including anything that reads as instructions or methods. You can say how someone died without describing it in detail.
- Spam or promotion: advertising, links unrelated to the memorial, or content posted purely to game the review process.
Photos
Please choose a photo where the person being remembered is the clearly identifiable subject. If other people appear in the photo, make sure they'd be okay with it being shown here: a candid group photo of someone who didn't agree to be part of a public memorial isn't fair to them, even if the intent is kind. When in doubt, crop the photo down to just the person you're remembering.
Uploaded photos are automatically re-processed to remove hidden location data before they're stored.
Who can create a memorial
Anyone can submit one, you don't need to be a legal next-of-kin. We ask that you only create a memorial for someone you actually knew, and that you're honest on the form about your relationship to them. Family members disagreeing about a memorial's existence or content is handled under Disputes & takedowns below, not by restricting who can submit in the first place.
Age
This companion site follows the same minimum age as the VRChat world it feeds: 13 and up, with parental permission if you're under 18. If a memorial is for a minor, or submitted by one, we review it with extra care.
Disputes & takedowns
If you're a family member and you'd like a memorial edited, taken down, or you're unsure why one exists, contact us with the memorial's page link and your relationship to the person. We don't require legal proof of next-of-kin status to start that conversation, we just ask for good faith on both sides while we sort it out. See this address for any dispute or takedown request.
Reporting a problem
If you see something here, or in the VRChat world, that shouldn't be up (harassment, someone's private information, a fake memorial), please report it. A report goes straight to a moderator and is usually looked at within a few hours.
One more thing
This whole project exists because losing someone is hard, and having somewhere lasting to remember them can help. Please treat this place, and the people who visit it, the way you'd want a memorial for someone you loved to be treated.
